Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6
The Work He Began
Few verses carry as much assurance as this one. Paul’s confidence wasn’t in the Philippians themselves, but in the God who began His work within them. The same God who started their salvation would see it through to completion. God never abandons His projects.
Our faith may waver, our zeal may fade, and our circumstances may change but His purpose remains steady. The work of salvation didn’t begin with us, and it will not depend on us to finish it. The strength of your salvation isn’t your grip on God, but His grip on you.
Notice Paul says, “Being confident of this very thing.” Confidence is not arrogance, it’s assurance rooted in God’s faithfulness. When your confidence is in yourself, discouragement is inevitable whereas when your confidence is in Christ, perseverance is inevitable.
Our job is not to control the outcome but to remain surrendered to His process.
